About the role

About Tesco Online

Tesco’s core purpose is to serve our customers, communities, and the planet a little better every day.

Everything we do is underpinned by a continuous drive to deliver this. We are driving innovation and transforming experiences through technology to become the world’s leading retailer.

We need passionate and confident people willing to take the initiative and push us forwards, who share our ambition to deliver for our customers, communities, and planet. In return, we offer excitement through impact, a great team, excellent benefit packages and significant career opportunities.

Tesco online is the UK’s leading grocery delivery service covering 99.5% of the UK population. We work in a dynamic and fast-moving industry with healthy competition from mainstream supermarkets, recipe subscription services and real time food delivery. We operate at scale with 3 million customers shopping online each week and revenues exceeding £6 billion a year.

Working here means playing a part in defining, building, and optimising the online shopping experience across web and app platforms – impacting the lives of millions of people throughout the UK.

If that sounds exciting, then we would love to hear from you.

The position will be based at our office in Farringdon, London and will report to the global product team based in our London and Welwyn offices.

Associate Product Manager, Content at Tesco

We are seeking a customer-centric, passionate technologist to start their product management career at Tesco. As an Associate Product Manager for Content within the Inspire Squad, you will be responsible for driving our Content Strategy in three key areas.

First, you will support the immediate needs of our trading plan by leading delivery for several high-impact customer-facing improvements on our online platforms (Web and App). Your focus will be on driving Content interaction in our shopping experiences.

Second, you will work with the Senior Product Manager to set up the Continuous Discovery framework for Content. You will identify new opportunity areas, understand customer problems, and build solutions that utilise Content in new ways to make it easier for millions of customers to shop online as part of an empowered cross-functional team.

You will need

Must-have:

  • A passion for technology and its role in enabling Tesco to deliver on its purpose within ecommerce.
  • A key desire to learn outstanding product management, and the pro activeness to do so.
  • High levels of organisation and the ability to self-start and work well in a team.

Should-have:

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams to solve user problems that drive measurable outcomes.
  • A continuous learning approach to problem-solving, able to speak to experiences of challenges faced, how they were overcome, and where they took others with them on that journey to ultimately deliver results.
  • A basic understanding of Agile development processes such as Kanban and Scrum and their use.

Nice-to-have:

  • Hands-on experience building software or working with Engineers, Designers, and Analysts in customer-facing software products.
  • A good theoretical understanding of some outstanding product development principles, including (but not limited too), Teresa Torres’ Continuous Discovery Framework and key concepts from Marty Cagan’s Inspired.
  • Experience in analysing customer feedback and conducting market research. You will spend significant time speaking directly to customers to identify their problems.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile Development workflows such as Scrum or Kanban. Over time, you will be expected to own the backlog of either a Web or App Engineering team.
  • Examples of partner management, demonstrating the ability to influence without authority and bring others on the same journey. You will be expected to align partners and provide regular updates for the Content space.
