About the role
As the Assistant Merchandiser in our Store Stock Planning team, you’ll play a key role in keeping our products flowing smoothly into stores - making sure the right stock reaches the right place at the right time. You’ll manage stock distribution from depot to store, optimise availability, and support commercial teams with allocation decisions that drive sales and maximise full‑price sell‑through.
You will be responsible for
- Managing daily replenishment of full-price stock in alignment with agreed stock plans to maximize availability and sales.
- Overseeing and coordinate allocation of new product lines into stores, ensuring timely and accurate distribution.
- Acting as a key liaison for Stock Planning, maintaining clear and effective communication with internal teams and colleagues at all levels.
- Monitoring product exit strategies, managing and distributing remaining stock to minimize markdowns and optimize sell-through.
- Analysing product performance, delivering accurate insights and taking proactive actions to drive commercial results.
- Planning and manage stock for events and promotions throughout the season, ensuring timely execution and availability.
- Allocating stock for new store openings and refits, tracking packages to guarantee successful launches.
- Conducting store group trading analysis, sharing insights with the wider team to inform strategic and commercial decisions.
- Leading productive meetings with Merchandising, promoting distribution strategies and identifying business priorities.
- Producing daily and weekly reports to support trading decisions and provide actionable insights for the Stock Planning Team.
- Visiting stores to understand the impact of allocations and replenishment, and assess store stock profiles for continuous improvement.
- Maintaining commercial awareness, staying informed about the evolving role of retail on the High Street and monitoring competitor activity.
- Supporting team capability by training and developing new Allocators and Assistant Merchandisers, ensuring consistent standards and best practices.
You will need
Operational skills relevant for this job:
- Stock Allocation & Replenishment : Ensuring correct product placement and timely replenishment to meet customer demand.
- Excellent team player, with strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across departments.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with others to gather information to make better informed decisions.
- Builds positive relationships with own team members & other functions
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
Experience relevant for this job:
- Proven experience in allocation, distribution, or supply chain operations, with a strong understanding of stock flow and inventory management principles
- Demonstrated ability to exhibit personal attributes aligned with role requirements, including attention to detail and proactive problem-solving.
- Genuine interest and enthusiasm for fashion retailing and industry trends.
- Strong numerical and logical reasoning skills, essential for stock allocation and analysis tasks.
- Proven ability to work independently with self-motivation, while effectively collaborating under management direction.
