About the role

We are on the lookout for a Technical Manager to join our Garment team here within our Product Quality Area. You will deliver safe, legal, responsibly sourced, quality products for your area always focusing on our customers and demonstrating value-led behaviour.

Please note: This is a 12 month Parental Leave Cover.

You will be responsible for

  • Ensuring products in my area are safe, legal, responsibly sourced and meet the product brief,Tesco rules & policies.
  • Being the expert in my field, achieving my KPI's and supporting development of policy/protocol in my category.
  • Minimizing cost and risk throughout the supply chain and product range, ensuring appropriate controls are in place for consistency, legality and quality of products & packaging and signing off products at appropriate milestones.
  • Ensuring required Due Diligence documents are in place. Ensuring labeling is legal and factually correct.
  • Monitoring all quality and customer feedback and implementing actions to resolve issues raised.
  • Management & reduction of customer complaints, incidents (EPWs,recalls) and enforcement challenges in my area.
  • Inputting & driving product, process and improvement ideas into the New Product Development.
  • The technical critical path for new products/product changes,working with suppliers/Tesco Sourcing & flagging risks.
  • Inputting into the strategy with Category teams, identifying and developing the best suppliers & sources.
  • Ensuring my suppliers have Technical and ethical audits as required, agreeing action plans to drive improvement.
  • Managing and developing long term partnerships with suppliers, improving processes, quality and value.
  • Using 3D technology, MPD and our TC training tools to empower our suppliers to develop/approve on our behalf. 
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.

You will need

  • Relevant qualifications with experience delivering safe, legal, responsibly sourced, sustainable, and quality products.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation, standards, risk assessment, end‑to‑end incident management, and auditing/factory compliance.
  • Understanding of retail and customer needs, raw materials, and their performance.
  • Supplier and stakeholder management, alongside solid project management experience.
  • Competence in PLM, 3D tools, and data analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
