About the role
You will play a key role in shaping and delivering Whoosh’s analytics and commercial strategy, supporting the design, modelling, and execution of pricing and promotion initiatives that enhance value, grow sales, and optimise contribution. With strong analytical skills and a commercially focused mindset, you’ll collaborate closely with teams across Commercial, Finance, Proposition, Growth Development, and wider cross-functional partners to run trials, analyse performance, and translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that drive growth and profitability.
This role is central to unlocking the next stage of Whoosh’s growth through science‑led pricing and commercial optimisation.
You will be responsible for
- Supporting the development and ongoing refinement of the Whoosh pricing and commercial strategy, including category‑level and mission‑specific pricing and promotion approaches (e.g., mealtime, top‑up, urgent missions).
- Designing and modelling pricing and promotion trials (e.g., Fresh Mondays, clearance mechanics, Happy Hours, dynamic incentives), ensuring test structures are statistically robust and deliver actionable outcomes.
- Partnering with Commercial, Pricing, Finance, Analytics and Customer teams to quantify commercial impact, margin implications and customer behaviour changes.
- Leading analysis on CGM optimisation opportunities, surfacing insights that drive profitable growth and strengthen value perception.
- Exploring innovative commercial levers to grow sales and smooth demand (e.g., time‑of‑day pricing, product‑level dynamic pricing, mission‑specific bundles).
- Monitoring competitor pricing and promotional activity to inform internal decision‑making and shape Whoosh’s commercial stance.
- Providing analytical support for business cases and commercial proposals, ensuring recommendations are evidence‑based, customer‑led and financially sound.
- Translating complex datasets into clear, compelling narratives for senior stakeholders, contributing to scorecards, MBRs, QBRs and Exec‑ready papers.
- Working closely with Proposition, Growth Development, Finance, Customer and Tech teams to ensure aligned delivery of pricing trials and commercial changes.
- Partnering with Decision Scientists to develop models, measure test outcomes and embed repeatable reporting for commercial initiatives.
- Supporting teams across Whoosh with analytical modelling, business‑case development and commercial assessments to enable stronger decision‑making.
- Providing ad hoc project management support across Whoosh where required.
You will need
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to shape commercial and growth strategies.
- Ability to design and evaluate trials, interpret complex datasets, and translate findings into clear insights.
- Proven experience turning data into actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Strong modelling capability (Excel essential; SQL/Python desirable but not essential).
- Understanding of retail value mechanics, including front/middle/back basket drivers and customer pricing perception.
- Ability to analyse customer behaviour, operational performance, product mix, and commercial KPIs to inform decisions.
- Experience developing value propositions, range strategies, or customer‑led commercial mechanics.
- Understanding of commercial levers such as mission‑based pricing, margin mix, promotional mechanics, and incremental sales drivers.
- Clear and confident numerical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce senior‑ready outputs.
- Project management experience working across varied stakeholder groups.
- Proactive, organised self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced, ambiguous retail or online environment.
- Preferred but not essential: experience in rapid delivery, online grocery, or retail commercial role
