About the role
We are currently seeking to appoint a New Product Development & Quality Testing Technologist to manage and coordinate the running of our Quality Testing Plan & Support with the development of new products. Reporting to the Lead Quality & Innovation Manager you will be responsible for supporting product development projects and working with stakeholders to ensure the best results for the business as well as being responsible for leading and planning the quality testing and development testing in our facility and implementing our processes and prepare sensory samples for in-house panels. Complete sensory tests to verify adherence to specification to ensure we maintain a record of quality control, process control, or product development and provides technical support with sensory projects, and reports.
You will be responsible for
- Ensuring accurate documentation of test goals and objectives, test design, and testing procedures.
- Submitting tests for scheduling and communicating test schedule to team to ensure testing materials are ready on-time and in correct quantities.
- Creating questionnaires for Sensory Panel testing.
- Summarizing test results orally, and in written documentation. Co-ordinating, setting up, administering, and reporting results of R&D internal sensory testing.
- Co-ordinating and scheduling sensory & consumer panels.
- Recruiting and coordinating internal groups of people for testing.
- Ensuring all agreements are accurate and recorded in writing in line with Commercial processes, and reporting Grocery Regulations complaints to Legal within 48hours of receipt.
- Following our Business Code of Conduct and always act with integrity and due diligence.
NPD:
- Working with NPD managers to support on product development projects.
- You will support all aspects of the product development process from brief through to instore launch.
- Support commercial buying managers in developing and implementing category development strategy.
- Ensure that products, services, and information consistently deliver quality and value to meet customer expectation in a defined product portfolio.
- Brief and work alongside buying managers and technical managers to ensure we are delivering the right products for our customers.
- Support NPD managers during competitor challenges on quality. Implementing the category development strategy to strengthen supplier product quality & innovation.
- Continually seek opportunities, often in conjunction with suppliers to improve quality of product.
- Implement action plans to resolve issues across product portfolio.
- Work closely with category teams, you will source suppliers and products to fulfil market insight requirements for ranges across fresh and ambient categories.
- The wide arrange of products means this role will require excellent project management skills, coupled with high levels of personal energy and enthusiasm.
- Leading by example – be flexible and willing to be hands on in all capacities when required
You will need
- Minimum of 1 years’ work experience; R&D or Sensory experience desirable.
- Experience in Product Development within retail
- Degree in Food Science / Food Technology or similar
- Must be detail oriented and flexible to changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently as well as in multi-functional teams.
- Proficient in MS Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Candidates should have a basic understanding of statistics, be detail and task-oriented, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Full driving license and own car (needed to perform the role)
