About the role
We are on the look out for a Sustainable Fisheries Specialist to join our Quality team here at Tesco. The person will support delivery of Tesco's marine and aquaculture sustainability strategy and policy. They will also oversee advocacy plans, support collaboration across key external stakeholders and work closely with relevant Tesco category teams to implement.
You will be responsible for
- Marine and aquaculture sustainability strategy, which covers environmental, social and welfare issues with particular focus on ensuring our aquaculture supply chains are sustainable and resilient for the future.
- Support delivery of the Tesco Welfare Assurance programme in relation to aquaculture supply chains including data collection and reporting of our performance against Tesco public targets and external reporting requirements.
- Support delivery of advocacy plans associated with the marine and aquaculture workstream (e.g. working closely with colleagues in Group Comms and Government Relations).
- Working as part of the Sustainable Agriculture and broader Sustainability team, sharing learnings across our function and supporting where needed on cross-cutting projects that support delivery of the Sustainable Agriculture Strategy.
- Support management of relationships with the marine industry including supplier, research, Government and NGO stakeholders.
You will need
- Seafood sustainability or environment focussed degree.
- Understanding of sustainability and welfare issues facing aquaculture and the solutions to address these.
- Understanding of sustainability issues facing wild capture and the solutions to address these would be a bonus.
- Experience of delivering and sustaining change - Build strong relationships internally and externally.
- Ability to work on cross functional projects that are relevant to the broader Sustainable Agriculture team.
