About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity within Health & Wellness for a Buying Manager on Pharmacy. The category is going through lots of change - so an exciting time to be part of it! The role allows you to work closely with large FMCG suppliers & on broader strategic projects to help improve the health of the nation through a combination of product and aligned service propositions. 

The area is seeing significant growth, so lots of opportunities to go after! We are looking for a brave & curious individual, who's looking to developed their career and experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for exploring and developing service propositions, with existing and new suppliers, that deliver against our key customer missions within the Health & Wellness strategy. Services that enhance our proposition beyond the fixture, contributing to Pharmacy revenue and profit. 

You will be responsible for

  • Building a customer focused, long term category strategy that delivers sustainable, profitable growth for the business & drives market out-performance 
  • Finding, developing and managing both branded & OB suppliers, to deliver our customer propositions and our joint business targets whilst ensuring that product quality is achieved & maintained. 
  • Working with suppliers to build a strong Buy, Move, Grow plans that ensures our products are manufactured, moved & sold in the most efficient way possible
  • Delivering a strong sell plans through, promotions, feature and events, resulting in increased footfall. 
  • Forecasting and managing budgets effectively. Delivering KPI targets. Always being cost conscious.
  • Exploring and developing service propositions, with existing and new suppliers, that deliver against our key customer missions within the Health & Wellness strategy. Services that enhance our proposition beyond the fixture, contributing to Pharmacy revenue and profit
  • Adhering to all Tesco policies, storage and handover protocols and successfully completing all my training so that I have zero GSCOP breaches. Ensuring all agreements are recorded in writing, reporting GSCOP complaints to Legal within 48 hours of receipt, and leading a culture of compliance within my team.
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence  


You will need

  • Commercial buying experience 
  • Experience of developing service propositions 
  • Experience of managing and delivering projects 
  • Range and trade planning Broad business and commercial knowledge 
  • Working with teams across the business Budget Management & forecasting
  • Pharmaceutical Buying experience preferred but not essential.
