About the role

The team resolve mix of space we give to product groups in our stores based on individual store performance, business strategy, customer demographic and market trends. We also own the principles for how we layout these product groups out in store

You will be responsible for

  • Delivering Range Changes and space impacting projects
  • Developing creative solutions, underpinned by robust data, to advise decisions and deliver tangible benefits in an ambitious market.
  • Understanding how the retail industry works, across all channels and the impact this has on our space in store, alongside existing and emerging market trends.
  • Focussing on how we can deliver the best offer for customers whilst improving our £/sq.ft. return
  • Collaborating with category teams to help understand where space needs to play a role in delivering the commercial strategy.
  • Working closely with the team in Tesco Business Services (TBS, India) to maintain high quality floor plans that meet our principles to ensure the best shopping trip for customers; delivered in a timely fashion.
  • Influencing a competing and broad set of partners across Commercial, Customer and Supply Chain Delivering space recommendations for projects, range changes and property development work.
  • Presenting clearly and able to flex your style, framing the complexity in simple engaging language to facilitate decision making.
  • Crafting and maintaining Space tools for you and the wider team to help make data based decisions.

You will need

  • Commercial competence.
  • Numerically strong and have an analytical approach.
  • Able to communicate sophisticated data led recommendations clearly with business focus.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to turn abstract ideas into deliverable solutions.
  • Energised by change, demonstrating a positive approach and ability to think on your feet.
  • Project management experience– able to plan, coordinate, prioritise, think creatively, pay attention to the details and articulate impacts of change.
  • Solid understanding of Excel and PowerPoint required, experience with SQL or Python would also be helpful.
  • Experience within Supply Chain, Commercial or Space, Range & Merchandising/Stock Control with a track record of results is a bonus.
