About the role

An exciting new role within our Property Function! Tesco is recruiting for a new Renewables Strategy Manager, Tesco are looking for someone to join their energy team playing a critical role in shaping and supporting Tesco across a range of high-impact projects. This role will be pivotal in ensuring a successful implementation and integration of sophisticated sustainable energy solutions, to contribute accelerating our energy transition.

You will be responsible for

  • Develop and support the approach to commercially scale renewable electricity, including the technical considerations of deploying solar PV and other generation technologies, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.
  • Strong background in energy technology with a broad understanding of the UK energy market and policy landscape
  • Act as technical SME for the energy transition with the latest insights on industry trends, research, innovation and policy direction
  • Provide technical guidance, reviewing designs, specifications and feasibility studies
  • Aid in Procurement through bid evaluations and solution assessments
  • Identify and develop strategies on the practical implementation of renewable electricity generation and BESS
  • Identify and develop key energy transition related capital investment projects
  • Ensure projects deliver business benefits and outcomes on time and budget
  • Provide energy related technical support, data and commentary for corporate reporting and communications
  • Maintain a strategic focus and translate long-term strategic outcomes into effective delivery plans with defined achievements and outcomes
  • Work closely with key business functions, particularly Procurement, Engineering, Technology, Finance, Treasury, to plan, shape, drive and support overall plan of activity vital to deliver the renewable energy strategy
  • Support the business planning process for energy contributing to our annual and long-term business plans

You will need

  • Experience in renewable electricity generation projects, contracting PPAs and BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems)
  • Energy experience with major infrastructure at multi-site organisations
  • Knowledge of solar PV design codes, certification requirements and regulations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate sophisticated topics in a clear and simple way
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field)
