About the role

A fantastic opportunity to join the Wine buying team and work with our suppliers around the world to bring exciting products to Tesco customers. In this role you will work closely with our Product developers to identify opportunities with both Branded and Own label suppliers, build exciting trade events for customers and support the Tesco group strategy.
Wine experience is not essential, however we are looking for a brilliant buyer with drive and passion for product.
You will be responsible for
- Ensuring my buying area has a long term customer led plan, which drives customer loyalty. I use insight tools to analyse and understand performance issues and opportunities. I develop plans to deliver category strategy.
- Supporting my departments range strategy to implement a customer focused range which delivers financial KPIs. Source innovative product to deliver insight led ranges across channels, regions & affluence levels to support the category strategy.
- Build & manage supplier relationships through a supplier strategy to develop a market leading buy, move and sell plan aligned to the customer plan and category strategy.
- Identifying and assessing new suppliers to deliver market leading product innovation.
- Optimise and develop exciting trade plans, promotions, events exceeding KPI forecasts and drive footfall.
- Deliver sales and quantum profit budget, market share and out-performance targets. Negotiate with supplier partners to deliver market leading product costs and investment in-line with Tesco Buying model.
- Adhering to all Tesco policies, storage and handover protocols and successfully completing all my training so that I have zero GSCOP breaches. Ensuring all agreements are recorded in writing, reporting GSCOP complaints to Legal within 48 hours of receipt, and leading a culture of compliance within my team.
