About the role

The Voice and Video Systems Engineer role sits in the Voice and Video engineering team as part of the wider Workplace Engineering team.  The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering voice and video engineering projects focusing on the design, implementation and service transition of voice and video technologies at Tesco.

You will be responsible for

  • Successful delivery of voice and video engineering projects to either upgrade, replace or decommission technologies.
  • Ensure new or changing services are transitioned successfully into operational service based on agreed and defined processes and standards.
  • Work with and manage various third-party partners to deliver Tesco’s voice and video services globally.
  • Support contract renegotiations where we choose to renew a service or assist in proposing new technologies that ensure Tesco’s voice and video infrastructure continues to meet the needs of colleagues.
  • Identify and eliminate operational risks ensuring our colleagues enjoy the best possible voice and video service, with minimal downtime.
  • Communicating with stakeholders and management to advise of any problems, challenges and blockers in projects to avoid delays to deliver.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and developments to help shape future development of the voice and video platform.

You will need

Skills & Responsibilities:

Technical Skills/Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of and experience working with the following technologies:
    • AudioCodes SBC/IP telephony
    • Microsoft Teams Phone and Teams Room systems
    • Cisco IP telephony, telepresence and cloud contact centre
    • Video event broadcasting technology and content distribution networks
    • Knowledge and experience of working with Microsoft Azure would be an advantage
  • A good understanding of voice and data networking with experience in the following areas:
    • Routing and switching
    • Firewalls
    • DHCP/DNS concepts
    • SIP
    • ISDN
    • Mobile technologies (4G, 3G, 2G networks).
  • Experience operating in a multi-platform technology organisation and deploying solutions that adhere to complex network and infosec requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.  Must be able to explain the work and impact to a wide range of stakeholders within infrastructure and the wider Tesco business.
