We are delighted to share that a unique and exciting position has arisen for a Microbiology, Risk and Regulation Advisor.

This role will see the successful candidate managing planned and ad hoc microbiological testing programmes to provide business due diligence and assurance of the control of microbiological risks in food products. Supporting on policy development & scientific risk assessment.

This position would suit someone that has a strong commercial understanding,  with lab knowledge. Experience of good prioritisation/able to manage competing demands on time.

You will be responsible for

Supporting the Company Microbiologist by

  •  Managing the Tesco relationship with the contract microbiological testing laboratory
  • Ensuring the operation of the microbiological testing programmes, including creation and accurate implementation of test plans, data management of test results and associated administration
  • Maintaining awareness of emerging microbiological risks to drive the continual improvement of microbiological surveillance and support the team’s horizon scanning activities
  • Support the drafting and delivery horizon scanning reports for the wider business
  • Supporting the review of, and corrective actions arising from, microbiological test results
  • Trend analysing microbiological test results to identify emerging issues and producing summary reports for internal stakeholders
  • Supporting the development and implementation of microbiology and food hygiene related policy
  • Deputising for the Company Microbiologist and supporting incident risk assessment and management where appropriate
  • Providing general support to the Product Safety & Labelling team and Product Regulatory Compliance department as required

You will need

  • Prioritisation/able to manage competing demands on time
  • Delivery or work to agreed deadlines
  • Comfortable with spreadsheet and database applications
  • Risk assessment
  • Food Science and/or regulatory experience (preferable not essential)
