A rare and exciting position has arisen for a Stretch Buying Manager to cover Global Grocery. Global Grocery is at the heart of our growth plans for the total Grocery category.  Since Covid and the CoL we have seen incredible growth across our Global cuisine areas and have been building a market leading plan on innovation, trade plan differentiation and most recently significant quality upgrades across our core own label cooking sauce ranges.

In this role you will have the opportunity to continue to grow and build on the brilliant momentum we have with our mealtime inspiration proposition. The successful candidate will work closely with PD and Technical teams to step change and scope out our top tier own label ranges across each cuisine, develop market leading trade plans and cuisine propositions, drive forward our market leading inspiration mod and manage a broad portfolio across both brand and own brand portfolio.  There will be be Line Management opportunity within this role.

You will be responsible for

  • Building a customer focused, long term category strategy that delivers sustainable growth for the business & drives market out-performance.
  • Finding, developing and managing both branded & OB suppliers, to deliver our customer propositions and our joint business targets whilst ensuring that product quality is achieved & maintained. 
  • Working with suppliers to build a strong Buy/Move plan that ensures our products are manufactured, moved & sold in the most efficient way possible
  • Effectively managing commodity and currency risk and negotiating a sustainable, market leading commercial position.
  • Forecasting and managing budgets effectively.  Delivering quantum profit targets.  Always being cost conscious.
  • Developing and leading a high performing team, giving them the opportunities to be their best.
  • Adhering to all Tesco policies, storage and hand-over protocols and successfully completing all the training so that you have zero GSCOP breaches.  Ensuring all agreements are recorded in writing, reporting GSCOP complaints to Legal within 48 hours of receipt, and leading a culture of compliance within the team.
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.
