About the role

The insight team’s mission is to influence Tesco to make confident decisions because we understand Customers and Colleagues better than anyone. Our key priorities are setting the customer agenda, commercialising insight, business partnering internally and externally, storytelling and modernising insight.

In this role you will utilise various data sources to understand and review performance of our Value strategy, assessing the efficacy of key activities like Clubcard Prices, Aldi Price Match & Low Everyday Prices, to ensure they are delivering great value for customers and building loyalty. With this knowledge you will be expected to identify and propose for improvements to these or other new schemes.

We know life looks a little different for each of us. That’s why at Tesco, we always welcome chats about flexible working. Some people are at the start of their careers, some want the freedom to do the things they love. Others are going through life-changing moments like becoming a carer, nearing retirement, adapting to parenthood, or something else. So, talk to us throughout your application about how we can support.

You will be responsible for

  • Analysing data sets of multiple types (research, behavioural, panel, economic) to find insight about our customers, competitors and markets that we can act on.
  • Use expertise to produce accurate and actionable insight which develops and drives actions in support of our customer growth strategy within a fast-paced environment. Work on developing story-telling to translate analysis to business questions.
  • Supporting with investigative work to help build a narrative on Tesco performance and sharing this work with other teams across the business.
  • Work closely with Executives, Analysts and Researchers in the Insight team (inc. Dunnhumby, Kantar, Circana and Enterprise Analytics) as well as those in other teams (Propositions, Trade Planning, Price & Promotions). Be an active participant in this community
  • Work with colleagues across the insight team to help support the development of future data, tools and capabilities being developed.
  • On a project basis, ensure these deliver against requirements, and are presented in a way to make the complex simple and land the key messages with impact.

You will need

  • A keen curiosity about the retail industry with a customer focus and the ability to think commercially
  • Experience in combining a range of different data sources to identify key issues and opportunities
  • Able to work cross-functionally through every-day conversations and by presenting insight output
  • Ability to interrogate processes
  • Experience and confidence in using Excel and PowerPoint to an expert level
  • A proactive self-starter that is curious and keen to learn new approaches and techniques
