About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Retail Procurement Manager to join the Tesco procurement team. This role will require an extensive retail procurement category background with particular strengths and experience in the consumables and equipment category preferred.
This role will be pivotal in delivering commercial excellence to support exciting business budgets.
You will be responsible for
- Developing and delivering procurement strategies whilst ensuring positive relationships with suppliers & partners continue to be developed and maintained internationally
- Develop and implement projects which truly support the Tesco transformation priorities
- Writing and delivering the Procurement plan for the services and products
- Create improvements in existing services, look for specialisation and automation improvements
- Be the go-to person for retail teams on the development of the consumables and stores equipment strategy
- Lead supplier reviews, acting as a customer concern point for contract-related issues
- Developing strong working relationships with the partner base (internally and external suppliers) to understand and influence requirements
- Review existing and potential new suppliers and assess their sustainability to supply Tesco, minimising risk, and optimising service
You will need
- Strong commercial competence and negotiation skills
- Phenomenal interpersonal skills and experience of cross functional working & stakeholder engagement
- Proven track record of delivering change through influencing and challenging the norm
- A character with drive and resilience
- High standards of ethics and personal integrity and development of self and others
- At least three years procurement / buying experience preferably in Retail
