About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Distribution Automation Programme Manager to join our Distribution and Transformation team!

You will strive to deliver initiatives that make our operations simpler for colleagues, better for customers and cheaper for Tesco. Saving to invest to meet our long-term growth ambitions!

You will be responsible for

  • Leading the development and execution of automation installation and design programmes – phase 1 is a 4-year programme
  • Working closely with partners (engineering, operations, IT, People, Legal) to understand automation requirements and develop efficient solutions
  • Designing and developing detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Capital budget of up to £300m
  • Installation and supporting the launch of projects
  • Reporting and stakeholder management within Distribution, Property and Technology
  • Leading and mentor a team responsible for installation and commissioning
  • Leading all aspects of the procurement of all vital equipment and materials for automation projects
  • Working with legal and procurement to ensure contract and pricing are in line with expectations
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and standards during installation
  • Managing project risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Conducting project reviews and report on progress to senior management including the Exec
  • Staying up-to-date on the latest automation technologies and trends

You will need

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing automation projects, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Proven experience in creating and implementing automation solutions
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g. PMP)
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle Solid understanding of automation software and hardware (desirable)
