About the role

A fantastic opportunity to expand your horizons!  Come and join our brilliant team looking after technical for Paper & Home Essentials within the Tesco Household & Fuel Category.

As the technical lead within the category natural work team you will be responsible for the delivery of safe, legal and responsibly sourced product across your area (from loo roll to cling film!).

We are looking for someone who has great attention to detail, loves working with product and is passionate about delivering for customers!

The role is perfect for someone with experience as a Technical Manager in retail or manufacturing (food or non-food) looking for their next stretch.

With suppliers within the UK and across the globe, the category area is diverse and interesting providing a brilliant platform to develop and expand your skills and knowledge.

The role involves working with stakeholders within team, wider business and Tesco supply base.

You will be responsible for

• Risk assessment of product against safety, legal and responsible sourcing criteria
• Delivering the technical aspects of the product development critical path
• Managing delivery of the responsible sourcing agenda for your category area
• Being the champion for product quality within your natural work team
• Managing supply chain risk from ingredient sourcing to the supermarket shelf (safety, business & reputational)
• Proactively contributing to the category supplier strategy
• Driving supplier capability through collaborative engagement
• Responding to complaints and incidents quickly and effectively to protect customers and the business. 
• Learning new skills/keeping abreast of the latest thinking in your category area
• Following the Tesco Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity and due diligence. Speaking up if something isn't right.

You will need

Operational skills relevant for this job:

• Supplier & Stakeholder - influencing, clear communication and presentation skills
• Project and critical path management
• End to end supply chain understanding
• Data analysis and decision making skills
• Risk assessment and management
• Good IT & systems skills

Experience relevant for this job:

• Experience of working in a food or non-food technical role in retail or industry
• A science-based degree or equivalent qualification
• Experience of delivering safe, legal, responsibly sourced product within a customer focused business
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Experience of managing complex supply chains
