About the role

Tesco Online is the biggest online grocer in the UK and one of the largest in the world. Digital growth is core to Tesco’s future strategy and this role will be pivotal in driving customer growth plans and trading a new marketplace allowing Tesco customers access to a larger range of new and exciting products.

The role has regular exposure to senior stakeholders across Customer, Online and Technology functions. Working within an agile set up, this role would suit someone who is comfortable working collaboratively to lead teams in trading both the new marketplace website and a cross functional group of marketing specialists within the Customer function known in the new agile ways of working as a ‘centre of expertise.’

You will be responsible for

Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence and have these specific risk responsibilities:

 

- Leading a trading and content team of 4 to ensure the marketplace product selection and trade plan is effectively promoted to customers to drive sales and basket metrics.

- Owning the definition of the onsite marketplace trade plan and accurate execution of all onsite content, ensuring a combination of specific marketplace promotional plans and clear connection and alignment to broader Tesco campaigns and events.

- Definition and management of the seller trade plan in collaboration with the seller partnership team.

- Leading an agile ‘centre of expertise’ – bringing together a group of specialists from within the Customer function and ensuring smart and efficient use of agile working practices, clear OKR setting and ‘inspect and adapt’ methodologies.

- Leading this group to define and build an annual ‘through the funnel marketing’ plan and delivering against key customer metrics including active customer numbers, awareness, and desired CRM outcomes.

You will need

Operational / technical skills relevant for this job:

- Strong working knowledge of ecommerce and digital marketing

- Ability to define annual customer growth priorities and set clear acquisition and retention targets

- Strong project and stakeholder management skills

- Strong commercial acumen and understanding

- Strong communication and storytelling skills

- Ability to influence at all levels

- Broad stakeholder management, including executive levels

- Business development and negotiation with commercial partners

 

Experience relevant for this job:

- Team management and development, ideally of a multi-function operational team

- Record of effective planning and delivery of cross-functional initiatives

- Demonstrated leadership in ecommerce or a large digital initiative

- Ideally experienced in at least two of the following areas: ecommerce trading and operations, ‘through the funnel’ communications
