About the role
The insight team's purpose is to encourage insight-led proposition decisions by understanding Customers, Colleagues and the markets we operate in better than anyone.
Our key priorities are setting the customer agenda by expertly orchestrating multiple sources of data to identify, size and prioritise customer growth opportunities, frame propositions and measure their success. Robust and agile analytics, research, commercialisation, business partnering, storytelling, curation and democratising insight are our team's key jobs. In this role you will use expertise in Data Analytics to create deep insights about our customers to support a programme of insight that meets our strategic goals.

You will be responsible for
- Taking business problems and framing them, so they can be answered using analytical methods - diagnostics, models, visualisations, segmentations, personalisation - against the vast amounts of behavioural, financial, marketing, market and operational data collected by Tesco and our partners across the Group.
- Collaborate with other analysts in the UK, in Bengaluru or through our wider agency partnerships
- Delivering standard process for analysis and innovating to continuously improve the wider team's impact, efficiency and consistency, taking the time to share with and learn from the analytics community in Tesco.
- Being passionate and inspiring about data and how we can use it to solve problems
- Predict behaviours, explore customer needs, understand performance, forecast future outcomes and find opportunities for Tesco Balancing short term customer needs against the longer term benefits of broader team data literacy and increased analytics capability
- Explaining sophisticated analytics and science approaches clearly so that they are easily understood by non-analysts.
- Working closely with our Insight team to best communicate insight to customers through inspiring visualisations, impactful storytelling and embedding knowledge.
- Sourcing data in a timely and accurate manner, building models to prove the value of media contribution for a variety of KPI's e.g. Sales ROI, Profit ROI, Cost per Acquisition.
- Presenting model outputs (Attribution, regression based analysis etc) to customers to help optimise campaigns across marketing channels for Above the Line Media, Performance Marketing, CRM and In Store Marketing.

- Strong advanced analytics, statistical modelling background applied across ecommerce areas using both simple and sophisticated statistical models
- Use of big data environments and data visualisation tools (preferably Hadoop & Tableau)
- Degree or equivalent experience level or higher in numerate subject is preferred e.g. Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Econometrics.
- Skilled in using statistical models and data analytics tools e.g. Python, SPARK, R. SQL is required. Strong MS Excel & Powerpoint Adobe Analytics / GA4 / Big Query Media effectiveness
- Problem solving, commercial savvy
