About the role

You will assess and manage potential and actual adverse human rights impacts across our food supply chain and sourcing communities to strengthen and support our human rights standards and strategy, working with relevant teams across Tesco, and managing relationships with key external stakeholders.

You will be responsible for

  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders in African risk countries on responsible sourcing practices in line with our human rights policy requirements.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders to understand salient human rights risks to workers and sourcing communities in region, and related sourcing & reputational risks for Tesco.
  • Developing potential solutions to mitigating human rights risks which address complex and entrenched endemic regional issues in collaboration with affected stakeholders.
  • Supporting Technical Managers with their food queries on how best to implement responsible sourcing in region through our human rights standards.
  • Escalating human rights allegations related to our food sourcing in the region to relevant colleagues.
  • Supporting investigations of allegations of human rights breaches in the region.
  • Training & capacity building of suppliers in the region to meet our human rights requirements and expectations on due diligence.
  • Supporting Human Rights team colleagues with key strategic priorities. For example, providing insights from regional stakeholders.

Experience:

  • Experience in a relevant industry and in responsible sourcing practices
  • Managing supplier relationships
  • Collaboration with NGOs and other stakeholders
  • Implementing International and regional human rights/labour standards
  • Implementing gender sensitive policies and procedures
