About the role

Product managers at TESCO Technology are passionate about solving problems. They take accountability for complex products, and are empowered to drive the product strategy, roadmap and outcomes. Driven by curiosity and innovation, coupled with strong partnership with Business, Engineering, User Research and Data Science teams, our product managers create value for our Customers and Colleagues in all our markets.

Store Fulfilment is the backbone of the business and at the forefront of serving our Customers. Our fulfilment network ensures our Customers get their shopping, when, where and how they want it. Our fulfilment operations are on a progressive journey to embrace automation and modernise our applications, with technology at the heart of our industry leading plans.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to be part of this journey, sharing our ambition to deliver for our Customers; with a proven track record, ideally in fulfilment, across both Front (e.g. Colleague & Management Applications) and the Backend which drives them (e.g. API, business logic & algorithms). The position will be based at our Technology Centre in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire

You will be responsible for

  • Own all the products which our Distribution colleagues and managers interact with allowing them to make decisions and complete task through intuitive interfaces
  • Evolve and drive the product vision, strategy and long-term roadmap and execute it well by constantly managing the stakeholder’s expectations and working through dependencies across multiple products/ teams.
  • Accountable for the performance/ adoption of the product and work towards achieving the Outcomes and Key Results (OKRs)
  • Understand key user personas for the product and their pain points.
  • Understand and demonstrate the features of the product to different audiences within and outside of the immediate team
  • Drives experiments against defined hypothesis which enables robust data-driven decisions on product improvements and influences product objectives
  • Engage in product discovery to establish minimum viable product (MVP) for your products, collaborating with user experience (UX) and engineering teams to prototype and validate the solution.
  • Understand how to utilise data science and machine learning to deliver outcomes at scale
  • Provide leadership and direction to cross functional team(s)
  • Drive the acceptance and adoption of ideas and improvements with product teams and engineering stakeholders
  • Effectively outline and explain new product needs to the engineering team using user stories with personas and acceptance tests and help the team in breaking down complex work into smaller, deliverable chunks of value.
  • Steer sprint/ release planning sessions by collaborating with engineering counterparts to plan sprints/ releases that deliver maximum business value in least effort
  • This role will best suit an individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is well organised, pragmatic and a lateral thinker with a curious mind who is motivated to challenge the status quo, make change for the better and, most importantly, puts our customers first. 

You will need

  • Product Management experience in a B2B and/or Fulfilment environment
  • Experience in building Front End products (e.g. Colleague & Management Apps) and Back End products (e.g. APIs, business logic or algorithms).
  • Experience defining workflow management tools to create operational efficiency in enterprise scale systems
  • Proven track record of owning Problem Statements/Opportunities and achieving committed Outcomes
  • Proven ability to solve business problems through discovery and hypothesis driven approach
  • Proven ability to absorb and draw conclusions from multiple inputs and data points to refine and define the User Needs
  • Experience in/and understanding of User Experience (UX) Research driven product development
  • Worked collaboratively with data scientists to build integrated data products that add significant value
  • Ability to work independently and drive the product’s lifecycle

  • Preferred Function: Technology (Distribution & Fulfilment, 3rd Party Logistics for Online, Ecommerce business)
