About the role

We are passionate about step changing our cyber security capability to better protect Tesco customers and colleagues across our global business, and we’re looking for a strong candidate to lead our security mainframe team.

This new role challenges you to bring your security knowledge and experience to continue to improve the security of the Tesco mainframe platforms that are essential for the running of our business.

You will be responsible for

In this role you will have the ownership of leading the security mainframe team, ensuring that the Tesco mainframe stays aligned to security best practice, implementing of new and improved security controls as well as leading a team of security administrators to maintain security access and monitoring of the platform.

  • Team management
  • Strategy and road maps of security workload
  • Administration of the RACF access databases
  • Documenting and improving our security controls
  • Respond to security alerts received from security monitoring tooling
  • Administration of RBAC and PAM access management
  • Recertification processes of roles
  • Assist with audit evidence and remediation activities
  • Management of managed service provider

You will be given time and opportunities to do training and development as well as put yourself through certifications supported by us to ensure you are on the top tier edge of mainframe security.

You will need

Essential skills

  • Strong RACF security knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of IBM RACF mainframe security software and configuration
  • Strong z/secure knowledge
  • Experience of creating Access Control Lists
  • Experienced in mainframe languages such as: JCL, REXX, CLIST and ISPF
  • Understanding of security concepts and technologies
  • Understanding of z/OS components
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking, willingness to challenge status quo
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and oral communications, self-motivator
  • Strong collaboration skills but also able to work independently to achieve an outcome, highly adaptive

Additional desirable skills:

  • CARLa reporting knowledge
  • Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls
  • Experience of digital certificate management and implementation
  • Knowledge of RACF remote sharing facility (RRSF)
