About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our high-profile treasury team across two functions, giving a unique aspect of facing both in to the business units (Markets) as well as out externally to the rating agencies and banks (Funding).

The role benefits from significant exposure to the Finance Leadership Team and has natural potential to build well-rounded skills for career progression within Finance.

You will be responsible for

Funding

  • Developing and maintaining in-house models for long term liquidity and credit metrics in line with rating agency and Tesco methodologies
  • Assessing the impact of strategic actions, in line with Capital Allocation framework, on rating agency and Tesco metrics
  • Supporting with relationship management: rating agencies and banks
  • Leading execution of programs to purchase shares to satisfy colleague awards and shareholder return
  • Creation of recommendation and approval papers for Tesco PLC dividend
  • Stakeholder in the production of the Going Concern review
  • Provide technical advice on the calculation of WACC
  • Co-ordination and production of periodic reporting for Funding and Markets teams

Markets

  • Primary business partner to Asia operations - maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with business units and being the go-to Treasury person, acting as liaison between business units and other treasury functions
  • Leveraging wider Group Treasury team in making recommendations to optimise business unit: cash & liquidity management, funding & capital structure, risk management, and trade finance
  • Championing a pro-sustainability perspective when developing treasury solutions
  • Originating and implementing sustainability-led financing initiatives
  • Coordinating business unit funding plan activities
  • Monitoring and understanding business units cashflow performance and the impact on funding
  • Identifying financial risks relating to treasury operations, including but not limited to currency fluctuations, banking disruptions, and funding risk. Supporting execution of risk mitigation projects
  • Business support for any ad hoc treasury and financing projects

You will need

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and work collaboratively outside immediate team
  • Fluent in finance fundamentals
  • Strong modelling and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to work responsively to short deadlines and under pressure

Nice to have:

  • A strong finance background with an interest to get into treasury
  • A desire to study towards ACT qualification, for which funding is available
