About the role

We are looking for a driven Portfolio Manager! You will be part of the Governance & Standards Office within the Finance Change Portfolio Management team.

The Governance & Standards Office sets & maintains consistent standards for the portfolio to adhere to. This includes, but is not limited to delivery lifecycle methodology, ensuring effective governance, audit & quality assurance standards and knowledge & information management.

You will be responsible for

  • Ensure consistent application of the Finance Change delivery methodology across the end-to-end delivery of programmes and projects within the portfolio, so that lasting change is delivered effectively and efficiently
  • Undertake auditing and health checks on projects and programmes within the portfolio
  • Support the design of governance structures for the portfolio, ensuring governance is simple and flexible whilst enabling the right level of decision making and control.
  • Organise and facilitate portfolio-level governance forums as appropriate
  • Continual review of governance including PMO processes and the overarching methodology to ensure they remain fit for purpose in a changing environment
  • Utilise stakeholder management skills to ensure colleagues are following appropriate governance and processes
  • Communicate and train stakeholders on new or revised ways of working
  • Develop best practice for new processes

You will need

  • Excellent knowledge of Project, Programme and Portfolio governance frameworks
  • Experience of different project/programme techniques
  • High level exposure to portfolio, project or programme reporting
  • Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and uncertainty, to juggling change priorities and manage workload efficiently

Nice to have:

  • Formal Portfolio/Project Management Qualification desirable (e.g. Prince2, MSP, APM, Agile, P3O or MoP)
