About the role

As the Productivity Data Manager, you will analyse problems, develop solutions and maintain a collection of code to enable the business to understand workload in store. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across Tesco to deliver the productivity change programme.

You will be responsible for

  • Work within Business Support to support the delivery of streams of work designed to support, improve or transform our stores and operating model ensuring we always serve customers, communities and the planet a little better everyday
  • Work collaboratively to come up with simple, effective solutions for customers and colleagues
  • See the bigger picture, going the extra mile to make a difference to customers and colleagues and your team – even if it’s beyond your role. Balancing exceptional delivery for customers on what matters, engaging teams and colleagues with the needs of the business
  • Collaborating effectively with business teams to develop and provide credible data and insight analysis to support key decisions on changes to the operating model
  • Contributing to the data dictionary & business rec material
  • Building analytical models across a number of tool for retail and distribution
  • Effectively using machine learning to solve complex problems
  • Maintaining and providing UK stores with existing accurate managing hours tools, for example resource planning tools
  • Developing and building analytical models to understand deviation in driver data and output for our productivity models
  • Continuously looking for better ways of doing things using automation techniques
  • Effectively analysing a combination of data and business understanding to turn data into insight; proactively identifying the root cause of issues and opportunities to improve the way we do things​
  • Reporting data accurately and turning it into useful information which has context and supporting narrative about the various departments in stores such as Bakery, Checkouts, PFS etc

You will need

  • Hadoop Knowledge
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office , SQL, VBA, Hadoop, Python, Tableau development, Alation, Alteryx
  • Proficient in SQL queries
  • Advanced Excel user including VBA
  • Advanced Access user including VBA
  • Retail knowledge
  • Stakeholder engagement & influencing
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Forecasting/natural planner
  • Application of data science in a real world environment
  • Excellent planning and organising/able to simplify and communicate effectively
