About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to proactively shape strategy and action to drive Tesco’s success, through great reporting and insight.
As part of the Group Performance team you are uniquely placed to connect the dots and build the story across Tesco Group, including our retail businesses, Tesco Bank and dunnhummby.
Our team works directly with the Group Finance Leadership Team, Group CFO, Business Unit finance teams, Customer team and Investor Relations team. The performance team is responsible for internal management reporting, providing updates on all aspects of business performance including financial, customer & market share to business leaders. Our key role is to bring this all together in an impactful way which tells the story and inspires change.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity get involved in periodic Group management accounts, competitor analysis and CEO reports alongside developing new reporting outputs that provide real insight.
You will be responsible for
- The scope and design of performance reporting which provides the Group Executive Committee with the key performance indicators and analysis to describe the performance against our strategic plans.
- Working collaboratively with the business unit teams to define the necessary inputs, both financial and non-financial, that you will need each period to produce Group Exec & PLC reporting updates.
- Working closely with teams across Finance & Customer, developing an understanding of trends in performance, and key issues, activities, and key events & timelines.
- Proactively look for opportunities to improve reporting processes and deliver efficiencies and insights within internal and external reports.
- Work on ad-hoc requests from Group Finance leadership and business as required
- Assist in producing CEO update that bring together all aspects of performance, distilling key messages and giving a clear so what.
- Supporting the broader team during external announcement process
You will need
- Relevant finance qualification (ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Naturally curious, asking the right questions to develop business understanding
- Highly collaborative with an ability to develop open working relationships with teams in multiple business units
- High attention to detail and strong excel and visualisation skills (mainly PowerPoint)
- Experience in producing reporting and insight that supports decision making
- Financial Planning & Analysis experience in a large, listed organisation desirable
Nice to have:
- Experience of international food retail or FMCG
