About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Optimisation professional to join us our Experimentation team on an initial 7 month fixed term contract. 

About Experimentation at Tesco

Our experimentation programme goes beyond CRO. We are an experienced Experimentation Team running a mature programme of testing within a large scale Product Organisation. Our testing programme touches millions of customers and the resulting product enhancements deliver multi-million pound revenue and profit gains.

The Tesco Experimentation Team sits within the broader Analytics team and the Technology organisation. Our focus is on delivering great customer experiences across our websites, apps and digital experiences through insight and understanding driven by experimentation.

You will be responsible for

The following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities:

  • Executing end-to-end AB test analysis: gathering and shaping requirements; defining success metrics; identifying and validating sources of data; identifying and validating methods of analysis; delivering insights and liaising with clients and partners to ensure the best recommendations are identified and delivered
  • Following existing statistical methodologies to analyse our test activity and forecast any financial impact
  • Managing the test analysis backlog for the areas of focus, prioritising and delegating appropriately to ensure that analysis is delivered in a timely manner
  • Providing input on OKR setting for each product area and working collaboratively with the Analytics team, UX Insight and Commercial teams to discover opportunities for improvements to our digital platforms
  • Coaching and mentoring the other analysts in the team and promoting best practise analysis techniques as appropriate
  • Working collaboratively with the Analytics Capabilities team to ensure appropriate means of measurement is in place.

You will need

You’ll need to have demonstrated experience of:

  • Working in digital analytics or optimisation positions
  • Working effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and understanding how to contribute to all phases of the product development lifecycle
  • A strong understanding of experimentation and able to demonstrate situations of where you’ve applied statistical rigour to your analysis
  • Using big data, business intelligence and data visualisation tools (ideally Hadoop)
  • Managing large, complex data sets and a proven ability to analyse data using different sources
  • Practical experience using advanced SQL
  • Confidently and competently represent the team when necessary.

In addition, this experience is desirable:

  • Experience of working with Adobe Analytics
  • Experience of working with Alteryx or other BI tools
  • Experience of working with AB testing tools
  • Experience of working with data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau).
