About the role

An opportunity has arisen for 2 Data Developers at our Dundee Customer Engagement Centre. The successful candidates will design and carry out data development within the CECs, across all contact channels, so we have the right and meaningful Management Information to make things better for customers and colleagues across the business.

Successful candidates will be required to work on site in our Dundee Customer Engagement Centre for a minimum of 2 out of 5 days each week.

You will be responsible for

  • Assist in the development, automation, and maintenance of management information for the CECs, including data extraction and transformation.
  • Understanding and working with the data to provide accurate & timely data from core systems
  • Presenting accurate, high quality and timely data in a user-friendly way, ensuring extraction processes are robust, streamlined and efficient
  • Contributing to the overall Data Development Plan, supporting the delivery of all CEC Data projects by ownership of my own Data Development streams and associated stakeholder relationships
  • Building trusted relationships with stakeholders, working with them to specify, develop and produce high quality data and reporting, to support key CEC and customer objectives and to respond to the changing needs of the business
  • Ensuring the quality of existing reporting through maintenance and review
  • Working in collaboration with my colleagues to share ideas and create an environment which drives creativity and innovative data solutions
  • Responding quickly to requests for change with ideas for improvement, using an array of development tools to deliver bespoke results that meets the needs of the stakeholders (finding innovative technical and practical solutions in doing so)
  • Assisting with the transition of operational reporting across the CECs, whilst ensuring Service Levels are maintained and delivery to our stakeholders is uninterrupted

You will need

Operational skills relevant for this job:

  • Understanding large datasets to produce meaningful and relevant data to the business
  • Working with and understanding databases and their structure (including writing complex queries)
  • Learning and using new technology and data tools / extraction techniques
  • Managing change, projects and stakeholders; particularly for Data Dev projects

Experience relevant for this job:

  • Data Development and analytics (including having to decipher and analyse complex data sets)
  • Data Development using Microsoft applications; including Excel, SQL Servers and Web Servers
  • Knowledge and experience of writing MS SQL queries, query optimisation and data recovery
  • Working with and extracting data from database solutions and data warehouses
  • Development in Python or Java to extract and transform data
