About the role

As a Lead Product Manager, you lead a team of 1-3 talented Product Managers and Associate Product Managers, and are accountable for a set of complex and company strategic products/ set of Services within a portfolio and would drive product strategy, roadmap and execution for them. You are responsible for ensuring that your team contains the product management resources and skills required to ensure you can successfully execute your product’s strategy and roadmap

You will be responsible for

• Have accountability for a complex/ large product(s)/ or a complete set of Service APIs that involve multiple internal/external stakeholders, and drive product strategy, roadmap and execution for that by leading a team of talented A/PMs

• Understand my business stakeholders and their pain points really well and steer my team in the right direction by putting best team members in the most value generating products/ business priorities

• Set clear goals and KPIs for my team members and periodically review all the KPIs owned by the team spanning across multiple products and provide feedback/ suggestions on improving those

• Handle conflicting priorities really well, communicate clearly and understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong, talented and opinionated team

• Identify and remove impediments faced by the team by working with my Head of Product/ other stakeholders and proactively flag off any risks/ delays in the commitments

• Contribute in capability and capacity planning for Product Management, for my own Product area to ensure capacity to drive work

• Build and nurture a great team of APMs, PMs for my Product ownership area, based on the business needs, strategic priorities assigned and level of focus required

• Carry out people routines for direct reports (APMs, PMs) and develop talented people

• Identify and remove impediments to ensure my team is successful in delivering the committed deliverables

• Motivate the team by ensuring they have fulfilling roles, proper rewards and recognition strategies

• Conduct fair performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback for my team/ individual to improve and facilitate the development of individuals in the team

• Collaborate with Head of Product to understand future demand and direction of my product

• Am responsible for achieving or exceeding agreed product KPIs improvements across all the Products owned/ managed by my team

You will need

• Experienced in delivering self-serve solutions to enable customers to better use data and insight to support their jobs and decision making

• I understand data management and the considerations we need to build stable and robust data products which are trustworthy and deliver valuable insights

• I understand large scale data platforms and how they can increase the scalability, availability, performance, and security of my organisation’s data

• Have proven success in leading a team of highly talented and opinionated product managers and took multiple ideas (at least 1 new product/idea) from conception to go-live, through standard software product development lifecycle and got measurable success across defined KPIs

• Experienced in capacity planning, forecasting and working with senior stakeholders to understand future demands and align allocation/ hiring

• Good domain expertise in the relevant functional area (Finance)

• Efficient in stakeholder management and has ability to steer the team in the right direction by putting best team members in the most value generating Products/ Business priorities

• Knowledge and experience of product management best practice and methodologies and strong technical acumen

• Technically competent to influence and understand the solution context and approach and aid engineering in estimating the complexity of work being requested

• Understands the impact Tech debt is causing and the value Tech upgrades can bring in, and can hold the objective conversations with your technology counterparts to prioritize it during any sprint

• Have great prioritization and decision making skills and have made good decisions/ judgements around business priorities and resource allocation, etc

• Experience in conducting fair appraisals and handling conflicts

• Experience in building/ hiring, grooming a team of Product Managers
