About the role

As Learning Technology Manager, you'll be responsible for the programme management and delivery of the Tesco learning technology roadmap. You'll deliver key projects and working with our learning technology suppliers. You will be required to improve the colleague experience; delivering key enhancements to the systems in line with Tesco technology strategic plans.

You'll be passionate about driving a consistent and improve learner experience, ensuring the learner is at the heart of what we do. Work to simplify and move us towards a single technology eco-system for the group whilst making sure colleagues can access the learning they need in a simple, consistent and cost efficient way. You'll navigate complex stakeholder relationships, internally and externally and use data and reporting to influence the business by telling powerful stories as to the benefit of improved learner technology.

You will be responsible for

  • Responsible  for the design and delivery of the Tesco learning technology roadmap, ensuring a short, medium and long term approach is taken across all types of learning technology.  
  • Navigate and influence a variety of stakeholders to gain buy in and sponsorship for the learning technology plan to ensure successful delivery. 
  • Delivering key strategic learning projects, working closely within the evolved operating structure to ensure learning technology and the learner experience is at the heart of all decision making. 
  • Managing LMS's and suppliers; improving the user experience, improving system performance (including data integrations and quality) and delivering key system enhancements in line with Tesco Technology strategic plans
  • Manage the day to day learning technology eco-system, working with the capability partners to set our strategy for content libraries, information platforms etc, balancing functional needs with group capability needs.  
  • You take a cost-conscious approach to all budgetary decisions, sharing responsibility on technology budget decisions and ensuring we follow group capability budgeting prioritises within the work we deliver.
  • You champion our new operating model and hold the business to account, ensuring we remove duplication and drive learner consistency. You work collaboratively and supportively with TBS, breaking down silos and building capability to strive to build one global team. 
  • You live 20/80, ensuring you and third parties follow all governance processes and ruthlessly prioritises work, in line with the group capability's plans and priorities. 
  • Influencing internal tech teams and suppliers offering insight, guidance and leadership to design solutions fit for Tesco colleagues and managers
  • Utilising data and feedback, with a continuous improvement mindset, to research, develop and launch innovation within digital learning
  • Assessing and evaluating where technology is able to deliver new effective and efficient ways to learn across the business and feeding this into the strategic roadmap by influencing the wider capability team and business.
  • Build data driven and informative business cases to influence the business to drive capabilities learning agenda. 
  • Act as an SME for learning technology, keeping abreast of innovation in digital content solutions, researching and developing solutions based on the latest trends and psychological/behavioural change research
  • Working with Capability designers and Tesco Business Services to design, develop and deploy innovative content.
  • Delivering presentations with confidence to senior leadership sharing visions, plans and progress on projects you are leading on.
  • Working with Colleague Help and the broader support infrastructure to ensure colleague have access to help and support when things go wrong
  • Designing process flows and UX diagrams to describe learning experiences and journeys
  • Ensure we strive for a learner lead, simple and accessible group capability offer that is data led and supports our strategic priorities
  • Work seamlessly across the people operating model and wider capability PoE (UK, Group & TBS) to respond to the changing needs of the business in an agile manner whilst always keeping the learner experience at the heart of everything we do. 
  • Maintain expertise and continued professional development, be a thought leader in your space and strive for continuous improvement across the capability catalogue,  
  • Use data & analytics to critically review and evaluate existing development solutions. Present data in a compelling way to report back to the business, make recommendations for improvements and support future business cases.
  • Championing and role modelling our Win Together behaviours, contributing to a cultural change programme across the Tesco group & actively driving a culture of learning.

You will need

Experience relevant for this job:

  • You should have a good understanding of technology and digital learning, with a high level understanding of LMS technology requirements. 
  • You will need UX-UI design skills to draw out user experiences, as you will be working with internal tech teams as well as suppliers that require guidance and leadership to design solutions.
  • Experience in Learning Design

    CMS/LMS Administration experience
  • E-learning Design – Articulate/Elucidat or similar
  • Web design – UX/UI/HTML/CSS/JavaScript/Python/SQL
  • Graphic/Video/VFX design experience.
  • Understanding of secure network systems
  • Relevant experience or qualifications (CIPD, Trainer Excellence)
