About the role

In this role you will lead Technology hiring efforts with a specific focus on Software Engineering; shaping our strategic hiring approach and adding significant value to our stakeholders as well as the wider organisation. As the Senior Recruiter, you will be a subject matter expert in recruiting tech talent, aware of the challenges of working in this environment and bringing innovation to overcome these challenges, as well as using your knowledge and experience to manage, coach and support a small team of recruiters.  Your work will be grounded in customer centricity and technology recruitment expertise, and you will use data and insights to help drive recruitment improvements for the function.

Whilst your primary focus will be Software Engineering, there may be times where you or your team are required to support the delivery of recruitment into other departments to support business needs. You will own and deliver 360 recruitment across a number of vacancies of your own as well as overseeing the performance and delivery of your team to ensure that your customer group receive excellent service to support their hiring demands.

You will be responsible for

  • Leading recruitment activity to attract, engage and hire great talent for Tesco Technology, with a primary focus on Software Engineering.
  • Meeting and exceeding targets and KPI’s such as monthly joiners, time to hire and direct hires.
  • Providing management, coaching and guidance to your team of recruiters to enable them to meet their own hiring goals and develop their skills and experience.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships with the Leadership Team, understanding their business and providing market data and insight to ensure Tesco remain competitive in a demanding recruitment environment.
  • Defining and developing attraction and engagement strategies that are innovative and a break from the norm.
  • Shaping, leveraging and promoting Tesco’s Employer Brand through networking, Social Media, events and other means enabling Tesco to engage with, and attract, individuals from the tech community.
  • Reviewing and improving, where necessary, our processes and assessment techniques, ensuring we are providing candidates and hiring managers with an effective, engaging and positive hiring experience that results in above average acceptance rates.

You will need

  • Proven experience at leading and delivering recruitment within the Technology space with a strong track record in meeting ambitious targets
  • Deep expertise in attraction and sourcing techniques in the technology space, including the utilisation of niche sourcing tools and talent mining activities.
  • A talent for building and exceptional and influential stakeholder relationships and partnering effectively with business and people colleagues.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to coach, direct, motivate and inspire and to be a role model of the Tesco values.
  • A solutions mindset with the ability to approach challenges as opportunities and to problem solve to evolve and maximise performance.
  • A strong sense of empathy for your candidates, hiring managers and your colleagues, placing positive experiences at the top of your priority list.
  • The ability to simplify processes, unlock barriers and to lead with a continuous improvement approach to support hiring efforts in both your direct remit as well as for the broader team and function.
  • Ability to track and report on recruitment data and trends.
