About the role

  • Line management: To line manage team members (currently 5 team members including mid and junior researchers), set objectives, ensure all team members are clear on their roles / responsibilities and supporting with professional / personal development (developing specialist skills where appropriate), support and guide them when they fall short, and make decisions when necessary.
  • Project management: You are accountable for the quality of your team’s work the ways of working: any insights are based on evidence; ensuring that the team understand the problem; ensure the team effectively identify and understand the customer opportunities and ensure that the key stakeholders engage with UX research.
  • Capability building: To drive ever deeper understanding of our customers by adopting a toolkit of research methodologies and ensuring the team can confidently conduct research to bring the voice of the customer to life as well as to demonstrate potential business impact. You will work closely with Research Manager’s/leads to take a key role in driving research capabilities and thus improving the maturity of research. You will also play a large role in evangelizing the team's capability and achievements to broader business and design org.
  • Community: Continue team meeting rituals and events to help upskill researchers and create a space for sharing and collaboration to build the confidence as well as the skillsets of our researchers.
  • Future thinking: Identify and track opportunities that are not in the current remit or scope of work projects.

You will be responsible for

You will need

  • University degree of 2:1 or higher in human-computer interaction (HCI), a related field, or equivalent years of professional experience
  • A talent for storytelling that manifest in strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Expert-level knowledge in the field of UX research with at least 7 years’ experience of working as a UX researcher or research manager position.
  • Considerable knowledge and hands-on experience with a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methods and techniques (such as usability testing, ethnography, contextual enquiry, creation of user profiles personas, journey mapping, surveys, competitor analysis).
  • Strong track record of research results impacting product strategy and development.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to collaborate with a wide set of stakeholders including designers, product managers, developers, and analysts.
