About the role

The insight team’s mission is to influence Tesco to make confident decisions because we understand Customers and Colleagues better than anyone. Our key priorities are setting the customer agenda, commercialising insight, business partnering internally and externally, storytelling and democratising insight.

In this role you will use expertise in Data Analytics to develop insight about Customers, Competitors or the Market that aligns to the needs of our Insight delivery plan and Insight team accountabilities.

You will be responsible for

  • Leading our understanding of the impact inflation is having on how customers shop and manage their money, understanding the economic impact to consumers, to model and identify patterns and trends, so we can best serve and support customers.
  • Reporting on how we are performing within the broader market, identifying trends and changes in competitor and customer behaviour.
  • Use expertise to produce accurate insight which develops and drives actions in support of our customer growth strategy within a fast-paced environment. Work closely with Insight Partners on how to best land this insight into the business, through excellent story-telling and embedding skills.
  • Actively build partnerships and work closely with other Analysts and Researchers in the team (inc. Dunnhumby, Kantar, and IRI) as well as those in other teams (Product, Channel, Property) and with our data science team in Technology
  • Anticipate requirements for further insight support – liaising within the Insight team to ensure these are part of future data, tools and capabilities being developed. Pro-actively alert to developments in the external analytics field.
  • Collaborate with Insight partners on briefs, and then lead projects from beginning to end – ensure these deliver against requirements, and are presented in a way to make the complex simple and land the key messages with impact.

You will need

  • A number of years experience in analytical roles demonstrating ability to land insights that drive a positive change in business decisions and performance.
  • Experience in economics, insight, strategy or commercial roles in a fast paced, customer facing industry.
  • Strong understanding of economics and economic modeling.
