About the role

The Investor Relations team manages the relationship and communications between Tesco and its owners (i.e. its shareholders). This ESG facing role is integral to supporting the Head of ESG – Investor Engagement to managing our ESG engagement communications programme on behalf of our CEO, CFO and Group Investor Relations Director to build long-term investor and analyst support. 

The role will provide you with broad experience across the range of IR activities, including ESG, corporate access and the financial results processes. You will also gain a broad knowledge of the Tesco Group and exposure to our senior colleagues across the business. 

Due to the nature of the work, our Investor Relations team usually works from the office at least 3 days a week, and closer to full time during busy periods such as results

You will be responsible for

  • Providing a professional, efficient and warm service for investors and sell-side analysts 
  • Working with our specialist internal teams to prepare proactive ESG communications and responses to investor queries on ESG
  • Drafting stakeholder communications and engagement on ESG matters, including coordination of investor events and roundtables
  • Supporting with the internal preparation of ESG materials and the preparation of investor briefing notes for our CEO, CFO and non-executive directors 
  • Taking notes on investor calls and maintaining the IR contact management system 
  • Supporting the Senior Investor Relations Managers with ad-hoc requests, including external results cycles and key internal meetings 
  • Supporting with the coordination of the programme of investor and sell-side analyst engagement for the year 
  • Supporting with the preparation of investor and analyst communications materials 

You will need

  • Great communication skills – both written and verbal 
  • Someone who is passionate about ESG and ideally has experience and/or training in ESG
  • A self-starter that can work independently, with excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Experience of collaborating effectively with both internal colleagues and external partners (often at more senior work levels) 
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word 
  • The role requires comfort working with numbers but does not require any specific financial experience or skills 
  • Some experience or interest in Investor Relations and/or Financial Markets
