About the role

Working as part of the broader Customer Finance team you will act as the key advisor for the Execution leadership team. You will help define financial and non-financial objectives for the function, and help the teams achieve these targets by monitoring progress and provide detailed sound commercial advice to optimise spend.

You will also be the person coordinating the financial relationship with Dunnhumby, our market leading partner in data analytics. You will help them improve income potential from our estate and data to ensure the greatest return on investment via creation of effective governance processes.

You will be responsible for

The Customer is central to every decision in Tesco, this role will give exposure to what matters to shoppers at Tesco. You’ll be reporting into the Head of Finance – Customer and will work alongside both the Clubcard Finance Business Partner and FP&A/Control teams. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Execution leadership team to track and optimise Execution (marketing communications) spend
  • Understanding the financial returns of all communication spend including Online & F&F
  • Coordinating the finance relationship with dunnhumby and improving value to Tesco by:
  • Maximising income from sale of owned Media within Brand guidelines, working closely with dunnhumby
  • Controlling & prioritising how and on what dunnhumby resource is deployed
  • Ensuring that all spend is prioritised based on brand objectives and returns
  • Developing econometric modelling with Mediacom & Insight teams to optimise Tesco media spend
  • Reviewing and challenging Production spend to ensure it is efficient
  • Responsible for forecasting and managing project results within your given area
  • Identifying, validating and delivering efficiency savings with the Customer procurement team
  • Supporting Customer teams with projects and initiatives, including IC business cases and performance reviews
  • Identifying and pro-actively highlighting risks and work to mitigate issues
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence

You will need

We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with experience of engaging and working with senior business partners.

You will require financial analysis skills, the ability to interpret data & derive analysis from scratch and strong commercial awareness and an eye for business. You will also need strong influencing skills and the resilience & willingness to challenge the status quo.
