About the role

We are looking for a UX Designer to help craft the future of colleague experience for employees across Tesco.

Our passionate and collaborative multidisciplinary team is comprised of UX, UI, and research specialists, focused on crafting relevant, inclusive products and services to improve the way our colleagues work across the organisation. This work will have a positive and tangible impact on thousands of employees.

As a UX designer, you will champion our colleague needs; discover their underlying challenges and work with technology to build and maintain a high-quality and consistent user experience across your domain. You will collaborate with product managers and business partners to influence product development and the wider colleague experience beyond individual touchpoints.

You will have a genuine appetite for sophisticated information, and a passion and energy for design and visual communication of your ideas. Insights and data (quantitative and qualitative) are what drive our team, and you will use it to support your decisions.

You will be responsible for

  • Work collaboratively with peers and senior UX designers to; understand, conceptualise, research, and deliver solutions to improve colleague experience
  • Conduct UX activities including; sketching, wireframing, low and high fidelity prototyping, and service/customer mapping
  • Work in partnership with Product Managers to understand and define customer problems and to build testable hypotheses that improve the employee experience
  • Work with other specialisms such as: UI designers, User Researchers, Engineers, Data Analysts, and business partners to explore, build and deliver your designs
  • Deliver valuable, high-quality and consistent work using our Digital Design System and its standardised foundations, components and patterns
  • Develop deep knowledge of employee needs and use this knowledge to advise and support product development
  • You’ll be involved in team initiatives and share knowledge and ideas across the wider Tesco design community

You will need

  • 3+ years commercial UX design experience
  • A strong, well-curated portfolio demonstrating your expertise
  • Experience in crafting intuitive graphical interfaces for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
  • Prior involvement in high-profile design projects in an Agile product-driven environment
  • A good understanding of the end-to-end iterative design process including how to develop and use design research, journey mapping, wire-framing, prototyping, and user testing to achieve human-centred design solutions
  • Experience collaborating closely with multiple subject areas including product and engineering
  • Proficiency with current industry design and collaboration tools such as Figma and Miro
  • Ability to use both quantitative and qualitative insight to advise decision-making
  • Experience in conducting user research
