About the role

The Automation Engineering Delivery Manager, will have accountability for planning and delivering Automation Proactive Capital plans, utilising engineering trials and all available data sources to help elongate the life of our assets. You will own commissioning and assurance of all projects.

You will be responsible for

  • The Automation Capital Replacement Program across Tesco Distribution, Fulfillment and Stores.
  • Delivering automation capital projects, modernisation and upgrades of existing assets and systems.
  • Ensuring life cycle planning and asset condition models are in place to remove risk to the Tesco operations and business.
  • Leading Commissioning and Assurance on all Capital Replacement and new build projects.
  • Ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget and best value to business needs.
  • Lead technical design and standards on automation capital projects and upgrades.
  • Work with procurement and suppliers to ensure business compliance and best practice.
  • Lead critical path project schedules and communicate information between various functions with minimal impact to the existing operation.
  • Understand operational processes and apply innovation from the current market.

  • 2 direct reports - Capital Assurance Engineers
  • £10 million + New and Exiting Capital Management projects
  • Safe working practices for external contractors

You will need

  • An Engineering degree and experience in delivery of complex projects including mechanical, electrical, safety and controls in automation
  • Formal Project management qualifications
  • Strong working knowledge of PLC, WCS, WMS and interconnecting technologies 
  • Experience in a role with comparable technology

Operation skills relevant for this job:

  • Experienced in engineering services, budgetary control and fully conversant with HSE legislation
  • Experience in procurement process to deliver value for money proposals and solutions
  • Strong history of delivering significant run and maintain projects from inception to operation
  • Excellent team player
