About the role

We are so excited to share that we are now recruiting for a Branch Planning Assistant Merchandiser to join our team here at Tesco.

This role will see the successful candidate strategically support the development of the SSP Planning processes. They will be responsible for creating Store Sales Forecasts and reporting, which will feed into the trading mechanisms, to drive best profitability, through delivering the right stock, to the right Stores at the right time.

This role would suit someone who has a proven track record in Retail, with advanced computer skills across many systems, including Excel, Database and be adaptable to new functionality and able to recognize and integrate new system learning. Need to have a strong technical, analytical approach, thriving in a diverse, commercial, fast paced environment. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities are a must, with excellent team player attributes. Experience in Forecasting and store sales planning is preferable.

You will be responsible for

  • Supporting with the seasonal planning for Ranging, aligning all activities across the Merchandising teams, to ensure that the right decisions are made regarding space, by Division – to feed into Assortment Plans.
  • Updating and monitoring sales plans, for Stores, that feed into the Grading process, to manage the right stock for Stores – investigating and utilising insight tools and developing Store Profiling, to further devise lower Grading and Attribute opportunities.
  • Producing actionable insight on how to best manage Stores Grading and Sales Forecasts.
  • Review and support the improvement of Space planning tools to accurately forecast sales potential, with space changes – linking with Space Planning on all relevant projects.
  • Manage the Development Programme Critical Path, to ensure the successful and timely processing of all changes for Refits, New Stores & Closures – across UKROI & CE.
  • Work closely with Planning, Space and Branch Merchandising teams, to coordinate changes to Grading and communicate performance planning.  
  • Role required to maximize profit and sales by identifying market trading opportunities and challenges.  Store level stock optimization to be achieved through working with Store Stock Planning and Branch Merchandising. 
  • Contribute to key trading, merchandising and stock distribution forecasts through understanding the business trading status, key seasonal KPI’s, Event management and logistics patterns.
  • Support Line Manager & team with the innovation and simplification for current ways of working that will move the department forward and meet the needs for the F&F Strategy.
  • Act on opportunities to protect margin and reduce terminal stock across all global selling channels.
  • Support Line Manager and wider team with ad hoc analysis as required. Deputise where required and support with managing, training and developing Trainee Merchandisers, where applicable.
