About the role

This 6 month parental leave cover vacancy is a fantastic opportunity to join the pet care team at Tesco. You may well be one of the many who have a new 4 legged addition to your family in the last couple of years*, making Pet one of the fastest growing and consistently busy areas of our business. In addition to being a growing area, we are also continuously looking for opportunities to improve sustainability of product, while offering variety and nutrition to Pet families.

This role is a key part of the team, managing date and insight, and trade planning. The role is also heavily inclusive of stakeholder management, so any experience in this is highly beneficial.

You will be responsible for

  • Leading the teams to deliver financial targets, accurate sales and quantum profit budgets for the area
  • Supporting the category strategy review process & change programmes with clear plans for the team to drive growth
  • Overseeing the selling and buying plan ensuring there is supplier strategy to meet the total category plan
  • Leading or supporting complex negotiations by the buying team, meeting regularly with our supply base 
  • Challenging the team to create customer focused ranges & product innovation across formats, channels & affluence levels, with the right sourcing plan
  • Reviewing & responding to weekly trading results and competitor actions, ensuring price is competitive & profitable
  • Supporting the category trade and events plan with market leading, customer insight driven promotions and events
  • Developing and leading a high performing team, giving them the opportunities to be their best
  • Forecasting and managing the budgets effectively, always being cost conscious
  • Adhering to all Tesco policies, storage and handover protocols and successfully completing all my training so that I have zero GSCOP breaches.
  • Ensuring all agreements are recorded in writing, reporting GSCOP complaints to Legal within 48 hours of receipt, and leading a culture of compliance within my team
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence
