About the role

Tesco Maintenance are currently looking to recruit a Store Technician to sit within our Bakery & Catering team. At Tesco, our stores and offices couldn’t function without the support of our Maintenance Team. A Store Technician (or IST as we call them) is an integral part of this team, carrying out maintenance procedures, safely, in stores and offices. Working closely with the Store Leadership Teams, the In Store Technicians deliver statutory requirements, proactive planned and reactive maintenance, promptly and in a cost effective way. Ensuring the business is able to continue to deliver its promise of serving Britain’s shoppers a little better every day.

You will be responsible for

  • Ensuring there is a safe environment for those who work and shop in my store(s)
  • Building effective relationships and communicating clearly with store leadership teams, managing expectations where necessary 
  • Responsible for ensuring assets are fixed in line with the agreed SLA
  • Taking ownership of the reactive and proactive maintenance of my regional area and store(s)
  • Supporting regional PPMs for the Bakery and Catering team which will involve extended travel and over night stays. 
  • Using the systems available to me, accurately recording work completed and describing work which needs to be escalated 
  • Working collaboratively with my internal service teams and external contractors 
  • Putting community, customer and colleague welfare at the heart of every decision I make
  • Meeting all the necessary legal and compliance standards, where possible exceeding these
  • Supporting my region in achieving team goals, identifying problems and implementing effective solutions
  • Being aware of the cost implications of my actions and ensuring the most effective and efficient fix

You will need

  • Maintenance and/or engineering experience
  • Have good customer service skills
  • Be able to work remotely
  • To deliver work to statutory requirements
  • To be able to work safely
