About the role

This Finance Manager position within the UK central control team at Tesco is there to stand over the consolidated UK management accounts and the processes and controls that support this. This is a great role for seeing the big picture of Tesco’s retail and corporate activities and has a large stakeholder group across the UK and India finance teams.

You will be responsible for

  • Co-ordinating teams across the UK and India to deliver the consolidated UK management accounts and supporting commentary.
  • Preparation of reporting packs for leadership teams and providing insight and analysis to support robust control reviews.
  • Ownership of UK consolidation entities and the bridge between statutory and group reporting.
  • A key user of the group consolidation system and supporting wider teams in the correct application of the system.
  • Working with External Reporting team to support in the production of the interim and annual report and liaising and co-ordinating teams to facilitate a smooth audit process.
  • Facilitating a culture of continuous improvement across the UK control teams and identifying, consulting on and implementing change.

You will need

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with excellent academics and relevant post qualified experience.
  • Financial accounting experience, preferably with large, listed groups.
  • Experience of working with cross-functional and international teams.
  • A drive for change and a track record in delivering continuous improvement.
  • A strong understanding of control principals and the practical application of controls.
  • Capacity for big picture thinking and the ability to review, summarise and critique data and undertake own research to facilitate understanding.
