About the role

This Lead Procurement Manager vacancy is responsible for the end to end procurement activity within a complex procurement category (Insurance, Global Mobility & Travel). It also has line manager responsibilities, managing a team of 3 across a category cluster.

As part of the role you will be responsible for leading your team to develop and manage the full procurement cycle for their categories from sourcing and tendering to outcome reporting and contract creation. 

You will also need to ensure the consistent engagement of stakeholders across Tesco and effectively manage a variety of supplier relationships across the cluster of categories you am responsible for.  

You will be responsible for

  • Continuous market intelligence/analyses to identify alternative suppliers, new developments and efficiencies
  • Identify cost savings and optimization levers and using data and insights to make informed decisions
  • Strategic sourcing and ensure the most appropriate sourcing approach is identified 
  • Work collaboratively with global teams and alliance partnerships 
  • Responsible & accountable for the achievement of savings targets 
  • Management of internal and external stakeholders 
  • Manage supplier performance and contractual KPIs where applicable 
  • Understand and utilise the most appropriate & effective sourcing approach
  • Controlling the business spend through improved use of tools and processes, while negotiating value for money
  • Continuous improvement 
  • Follow the Code of Business Conduct and ensure due diligence and ethical checks are completed  
  • Think strategically and bring added value to the category
  • Deputise for the Head of Group Sourcing when required
  • Manages a team and conducts performance reviews, including undertaking regular 1:1’s and objective setting with direct reports

You will need

  • A number of years experience as a Procurement Manager responsible for a complex buying area
  • People and effective stakeholder management skills
  • Category strategy creation and management as well as supplier relationship management experience
  • Category specific experience would be desirable but not essential.
