About the role

As a team we are accountable for helping set the direction for the Finance & Property application estate across our UK and global operations.  We cover everything from core ERP applications, through to niche products managing unique retail industry processes. As a group we work closely with the business, engineering, and architecture communities to make sure that the directions we propose for our products are strategic and aligned with business priorities.  This is a new and challenging area within Tesco and keeping the product roadmap in line with the business objectives is critical. The result is that the Product team plays a key role in shaping the future direction of the Tesco Finance applications and capabilities.

You will be responsible for

This role offers a great opportunity to help shape and deliver key capabilities within the global Tesco landscape. As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for shaping the outcomes and driving forward the roadmap our core finance application roadmap. Specifically, the role will help to shape the future capabilities across our Project Accounting, Asset Accounting, and Accounts Receivable products, working closely with our business stakeholders, and our Tesco Technology colleagues and 3rd party suppliers.

As well as defining and delivering new capability to the business communities, the role will also involve managing the evaluation of new features provided by the software vendors on a periodic basis and agreeing the priority of deploying these into the Tesco environment alongside other backlog priorities.

While specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures:

  • Have accountability for complex/ large product(s)/ that involve multiple internal/external stakeholders, and drive product strategy, roadmap, and execution for that alongside a team of talented PMs and engineers
  • Understand the key business stakeholders and their goals / strategies and steer the product(s) in the right direction based on business priorities
  • Lead discovery work for new problem/opportunity areas, collaborating with business stakeholders and engineering teams to define, design, and validate an MVP
  • Effectively document and articulate new requirements to the engineering team using user stories and acceptance criteria and help the team in breaking down a complex piece of work/ epic into smaller, deliverable chunks of value that can be delivered faster
  • Manage the evaluation of new product feature releases from key vendors and assess the them against Tesco priorities and challenges
  • Respond and prioritise fixes for live issues and continuous improvement
  • Update stakeholders and leadership on progress against OKRs at regular forums e.g. Vertical Operating Forum (VoF)
  • Collaborate with Head of Product to understand future demand and direction of the finance products

You will need

  • Clear understanding and experience of product management, including best practices, ways of working, and Agile working processes
  • Deep functional experience / understanding of the following Oracle modules (as a minimum) across R11, R12, and Fusion
    • Project Accounting
    • Fixed Assets
    • Accounts Receivable
  • Deep process and implementation experience across the process areas covered by the modules outlined above
  • Knowledge of finance API definition and design
