About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Procurement Manager to join the Tesco Procurement team in Retail/Consumables. This role will require a strong Procurement knowledge and background with experience in managing Goods categories preferred.

The main accountability is for managing the following product categories – Cleaning Chemicals and tools, Consolidation, Point of Sale (POS) accessories, and Stationery. This role will involve working closely with suppliers, Operational colleagues and other internal stakeholders.

This role will be pivotal in delivering commercial excellence to support challenging business targets, whilst also meeting critical business requirements that enable Tesco to operate every day.

You will be responsible for

  • To develop and deliver procurement strategies.  Ensure strong relationships with suppliers & stakeholders continue to be developed and maintained.  Deliver great value contracts.
  • Develop and implement projects which truly support the Tesco transformation priorities
  • Writing and delivering the Procurement plan for the Goods you’re responsible for
  • Assess the opportunity to maximise scale and work with Tesco International teams, partners and subsidiary business’
  • Prioritise the business requirement that users have fit for purpose goods needed to operate every day, being flexible and responsive to ensure this priority is always met.
  • End to end delivery of projects from sourcing through to delivery of the project to the end user.
  • Working closely with a Technical Manager to ensure all goods sourced are fit for purpose and meet Tesco’s Technical and Ethical standards
  • Developing strong working relationships with the stakeholder base (internally and external suppliers) to understand and influence requirements
  • Be the go-to person for internal stakeholders for category knowledge and support
  • Review existing and potential new suppliers and assess their sustainability to supply Tesco, minimising risk and optimising service

You will need

  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Great interpersonal skills and experience of cross functional working & stakeholder engagement
  • Proven track record of delivering change through influencing and challenging the norm
  • High standards of ethics and personal integrity
  • Passion for self-development
  • A number of years procurement / buying experience, preferably for Goods
