About the role
We are looking for a data privacy lawyer to join our Group Data Privacy Team. The successful individual will form part of a team of lawyers, risk managers and governance officers who work hand-in-hand with the business to advise and support on a range of privacy matters and manage privacy risk.
You can expect close partnership and collaboration with the business, a diverse workload, and a brief to innovate, simplify and improve. An ability to build relationships quickly, pro-actively manage workloads and provide practical privacy advice is essential. Some international travel is likely to be required in order to support our business units in the UK, Central Europe and Asia.
You will be responsible for
The individual’s key responsibilities will be:
- Supporting a wide range of privacy programs to enhance Tesco’s privacy risk framework across the group.
- Delivering day-to-day privacy advice to a range of stakeholders, non-privacy lawyers and business functions (including the people, technology, marketing, online and procurement teams).
- Providing subject matter expertise on PIAs, supporting on complex SARs, leading on managing personal data incidents, delivering training and awareness.
- Responding to regulatory complaints and investigations.
You will need
The individual will have a strong understanding of data privacy laws as well as a track record of being able to convert this into practical grounded advice for a range of stakeholders in a commercial environment.
The candidate will be a fully qualified lawyer with:
- Experience of privacy related legal work.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
- Build key relationships and further enhance the visibility of the Group Data Privacy Team across the business.
- Experience of working within a fastmoving commercial environment, with the requisite ability to prioritise and manage workloads as well as provide proportionate risk-based advice.
- A team player mentality with an inquiring mind and a good sense of humour.
