About the role
There is never a typical day as a Business Intelligence Analyst here at Tesco, that’s what makes it so interesting.
From calculating the number of lettuces we sold, to working out why strawberries were one of our highest loss products, through your own analysis and by spotting patterns in our big data, you could make a real difference to Tesco’s bottom line.
We need someone that has an analytical mind, a deep curiosity about business process and with your people skills, be able to communicate complex data in a simple way.
You’ll be exposed to some of the most exciting change projects in the business and taking on a role that allows you to turn your data insights into action that will help shape tomorrow’s Tesco.
You will be responsible for
Undertaking complex analytical work to deliver insight into Tesco’s shrinkage performance. From completing investigations into shrinkage trends to engaging teams across the business on their unknown loss, you will use your analytical skills to ensure that the department uses a data led approach to face the key challenges in present and future Shrinkage performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Using data and statistical analysis to shape hypotheses and test findings, before using your communication skills to deliver your insight in a clear and engaging manner
- Developing a deep understanding of how the processes within Tesco can lead to unknown loss to enable you to identify risks and opportunities for process improvement
- Measuring the shrinkage costs, benefits or risks associated with the change work delivered by our team and others around the business to ensure we have a clear understanding of the impact of the changes
- Maintaining & developing our suite of insight and performance reports to give both stores and senior leadership visibility of how the business is performing and what we need to do to improve
You will need
You will combine technical, numerical and interpersonal skills to provide the intelligence that informs the big decisions;
- Good numerate degree from a recognised institution
- A-level Maths
- Statistical analysis and research methods
- Using data warehousing tools to extract and manipulate data – SQL highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of Excel (knowledge of VBA desirable)
- Knowledge of Matlab, R, Python useful but not compulsory
