About the role

The insight team’s mission is to influence and enable Tesco leadership to make confident decisions because we understand Customers and Colleagues better than anyone. Our key priorities are setting the colleague agenda, commercialising insight, business partnering internally and externally, storytelling and democratising insight.

To help us achieve this we launched our new continuous listening programme, Every Voice Matters in 2020. This started with the implementation of our new annual deep dive survey in January which asks our 400,000 colleagues in the UK and international markets about their experience of working for Tesco. We followed this up with the launch of our new weekly continuous listening pulse survey in June which goes out to 10,000 colleagues per week and focuses on sentiment, deep dive and topical questions. Looking forward we’ve ambitions to expand our continuous listening programme to understand more around the colleague lifecycle experience.

This is a high profile position suited to an individual with expert relationship building skills and a consultative approach. In this role you will use extensive insight expertise to build trusted relationships with stakeholders from middle management to Board level across Tesco Group (including subsidiaries). You will partner with Group People Strategy to ensure People objectives are directly influenced by the insight from the Every Voice Matters programme.

You will be responsible for

- Being the 'Insight face' of the Every Voice Matters programme; the 'go to' for Centre of Excellence People Director and People Directors for all markets and subsidiaries; ensuring the insight design provides robust, tangible results actionable at team through to Executive level.

- Accountable for the rigour of insight gathered across Group, through the effective design, management, delivery and communication of our Every Voice Matters continuous listening programme – to include annual, pulse and ad hoc surveys (in collaboration with the Insight Partner – Colleague (Ad Hoc)).

- Creating and implementing the long-term plan for the continuing development of the Every Voice Matters programme – including evaluation of full colleague life-cycle experience.

- Leading insight discussions at the weekly SteerCo sessions, sponsored by Group Insight and Foresight Director and the UK and ROI People Director.

- Working closely with SteerCo to understand colleague insight requirements at the Executive level and communicating briefs to our HR consultancy to deliver impactful stories that clearly identify focus areas that are consistent across Group, and which support local leaders to identify focus areas specific to their business.

- Partnering day to day across function as the insight lead on the Every Voice Matters 'home team'. NB: The 'home team' is a natural work team including representation from our Technology agency partner (external), HR consultancy partner (external), Group People Strategy manager, Insight executives, Tesco technology and the central Project manager.

- Coordinating and leading colleague insight resource to deliver against stakeholder needs NB: insight resource is comprised of in-house, agency and Tesco Business Services (TBS) personnel.

- Maximising the value and expertise of external partnerships with our HR consultancy and Tech agency.

- Managing the Every Voice Matters budget effectively to ensure value for money.

- Looking for opportunities to develop team capability so as to bring work in house and reduce agency spend where it makes business sense to do so.

- Working collaboratively with People team and Tesco Technology to better integrate people data sources to enable linkages that deliver strategic and commercially focused colleague insight.

- Collaborate with the Insight Partner – Colleague (Ad hoc) to manage and coordinate stakeholder colleague insight requests to a consistent high standard, avoiding overlaps and duplication wherever possible.

You will need

Expert consulting skill-set incl. creative and structured problem solving, issue resolution, stakeholder engagement, commercial acumen and influencing skills at all levels.

Strong experience in employee insight or consultancy roles preferably within a blue chip organisation operating across international markets.

Significant evidence of demonstrating ability to identify and communicate insights that drive a positive change in business decisions and performance or extensive experience working in strategic people function translating insights into action and helping to define and shape a listening strategy.

Adept at evaluating people strategy using colleague research techniques and translating colleague insight back into strategic recommendations.

Previous demonstrable experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders - Director level and above.
