About the role

Programme Start Date: September/October 2020

On our 18 month graduate programme, we’ll provide you with all the tools, resources and people you need to develop into one of our leaders of the future. We give our graduates a combination of both operational and leadership development training, not to mention exposure to a fast-paced environment where the work you do will be tangible with real results. We place real value and importance in the role of a graduate in Tesco and you will get a lot of responsibility from the offset. You will have close relationships with all other graduates on the programme and you will work with them to develop a business project, giving you a well-rounded experience of the Tesco business.

We have two types of graduate programme in Tesco Ireland, you will have the opportunity to let us know which one you want to apply for in your online application.

Head Office Programme

Our Head Office programme is aimed at graduates who are attracted by the busy pace of retail but who also have a passion for food and delivering great service to customers. From your first day on the office programme, you’ll be part of a team.

You could be producing materials, reports or communications that will be used in stores, head office, by senior leaders, or by your immediate team. On the Head Office Programme you will complete two separate rotations. One of the rotations will be a stretch role, something you didn’t study in college, and for the other rotation we aim to match you with a position related to your area of study.

Stores Programme

For our Stores Graduate Programme you will work in one of our 151 stores across the Republic of Ireland. It’s no surprise that our stores are the first thing people think of when it comes to Tesco.

Our colleagues in store all share something in common: they want to serve our shoppers a little better every day. From a diverse range of great products, to brilliant customer service – we put our customers at the heart of everything we do, and our stores are at the forefront of this.

You’ll get to experience the diversity that our different stores, roles and departments offer and work your way up to become part of the Senior Management Team in store. You’ll do everything from leading and inspiring your colleagues in store, managing promotions and products and becoming a role model for great customer service.

You will need

  • At least a 2:2 degree in any subject.
  • To be able to work with others and achieve success together.
  • To put people and our customers at the heart of what you do.
  • To be agile in the way you think, make decisions and handle change.
  • To stick to your values and do the right thing, even when it’s tough.
  • A positive attitude, and a way of inspiring confidence in others.
  • To be connected to the latest thinking, inside and outside of the business.
  • The hunger to drive your own career and become one of our leaders.
  • To be an innovator, spotting opportunities to improve our business.
  • To demonstrate great resilience.
