About the role

As the Lead Product Manager you will lead a team of Product Managers to build and improve a product which enables Supply Chain colleagues and suppliers to manage their forecasting and ordering. This role will require a combination of front-end development and integration with key back end systems and working with stakeholders across Food, General Merchandise, UK and Group to understand key supply chain processes end-to-end. You will also help define and execute the strategy on how we get all supply chain colleagues and suppliers onto this platform in the next 5 years.

You will be responsible for

  • Developing a broad understanding of how our supply chain works across UK and Group for both colleagues and suppliers
  • Have accountability for a complex product domain, and drive product strategy, roadmap and execution for that by leading a team of product managers
  • Relentlessly seek to understand the needs and pains of my customers and business stakeholders
  • Work across multiple and demanding business stakeholders with fixed targets and Engineering teams using Agile to deliver value together
  • Through my network, data, and experience identify opportunities to drive transformational and measurable change
  • Articulate a clear and compelling product vision, and create clear plans to meet goals
  • Prioritise roadmaps with multiple success criteria and decisively resolve trade-offs with peers and senior leaders
  • Coach my product managers in best practice writing user stories and prioritising using Aha! and JIRA
  • Support my team to resolve live product issues while communicating effectively with the operators
  • Empower my team to perform beyond their own expectations by removing barriers and creating the right context for their success
  • Proactively partner with my peers and senior stakeholders to set the future direction of my product as part of the wider business strategy
  • Build and nurture a great team of product managers including carrying out people routines for direct reports and develop their potential
  • Motivate the wider team e.g. product managers and engineering team by ensuring they have fulfilling roles, proper rewards and recognition strategies
  • Conduct fair performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback to improve and facilitate the development of individuals in the team

You will need

Relevant Experience:

  • Domain expertise in user facing products, APIs and international product delivery
  • Experience in online products and mobile apps (a plus)
  • Proven success of having managed a complex product that led to the delivery of significant value to stakeholders
  • Understanding of retail supply chain (a plus) 
  • Developed a vision and strategy for a complex area in collaboration with peers and gained buy-in from senior stakeholders
  • Prioritised and allocated resources across a product portfolio serving different needs, objectives, and timeframes
  • Knowledge and understanding of software development methodologies
  • Using tools to extract & and analyse data (especially SQL, Excel)

Relevant Operational Skills:

  • Product management best practice & methodologies 
  • Sense of ownership towards your product and team in line with your vision
  • Ability to explain complexity to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proactively push for clarity in the face of ambiguity 
  • Able to balance pragmatism and methodical approaches to problem-solving

  • Good listening skills to understand the needs/ pain points of your customers
