About the role

You will work collaboratively with the country buying and sourcing teams to manage the sourcing and supplier strategy, aligned to the category strategy. Ensuring we have a competitive advantage by sourcing the best quality product from the right region, through partners who adhere to our ethical standards and advance our product offer.  Using extensive commercial knowledge and operational experience to fully manage and drive continuous improvement of the sourcing process, working collaboratively across the sourcing network and category teams to ensure we deliver on time.

You will be responsible for

Strategy

  • Managing the short and long term strategic sourcing direction to deliver the category product & sourcing strategy
  • Having the commercial responsibility for where and how own-brand product is sourced

Operational

  • Making sure that everything Tesco Sourcing needs to initiate the product process is ready prior to the due date
  • Driving high data integrity and tool adoption within Buying & Sourcing teams, providing visibility of critical path status and driving adherence to the timelines
  • Supporting the preparation of effective Commercial Sourcing trips by; Briefing all stakeholders on; critical path, ways of working and general engagement, Working with Commercial teams to ensure the highest quality of Range Matrix and briefs are delivered, Working with Sourcing teams to ensure Range Development is landed and understood and compiling any relevant forecast or review data to support or challenge planned development
  • Managing the information flow of range/seasonal frameworks, buying briefs and forecasts to Tesco Sourcing to ensure the critical path is met on time
  • Ensuring that new briefs  are assigned to the right location within the agreed sourcing strategy
  • The continuous improvement of our sourcing processes and how we interact with  category teams and our supplier partners
  • Supporting Heads of Global Sourcing with general Operations management and Strategic development
  • Initiating and Working with Global Sourcing team on Cross Tender projects, end of season summaries and supporting data requests to recommend further improvements and strategic direction

People

  • Developing relationships and working directly with product teams in order to understand what they want to buy
  • Developing relationships across our global sourcing network in order to fully understand regional product/raw material/ manufacturing expertise
  • Having great working relationships with Suppliers that encourage trust and loyalty

You will need

  • Retail / Sourcing knowledge
  • Production and factory experience
  • Understanding country and global supply chains
  • Strong commercial and influencing skills
  • Project Management experience preferred
  • Stakeholder Management – Across Work Levels, Functions and cultures
  • Supplier Management – Solid network and strong relationship management
  • “Taking People With You” and solid influencing skills
  • Planning and analytical skills – Organised with attention to detail
  • Proactive and actively finds solutions to problems
  • Strong understanding of the sourcing process and associated critical path
